Comprised of individuals well known in their respective fields, the new Advisory Board is charged with offering independent advice to Heritage’s governing body and providing their expertise and consultation in several areas, including strategic long term planning. (Dr.) Kussman retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs in May, 2009 having served as the Under Secretary for Health for the Veterans Health Administration since May 7, 2007, as leader of the Nation’s largest integrated health care system. As Under Secretary, he served both Republican and Democratic Presidents. A recognized and sought after health care industry consultant and advisor, Dr. Kussman is a native of Troy, N.Y. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Medical degrees from Boston University and a Masters degree in management from Salve Regina University. ABOUT THE HONORAGLE WILLIAM H. PICKLE The Honorable William H. Pickle served as the 37th United States Sergeant at Arms from March 17, 2003 until January, 2007. Mr. Pickle served as Security Director of the Transportation Security Administration and as Deputy Inspector General for the United States Department of Labor. Currently, Mr. Pickle is a member of numerous corporate and college boards, as well as the President’s Medal of Valor Committee. Mr. Pickle attended American University and Metro State College in Denver, Colorado, and holds a degree in political science. ABOUT DAVE REYNOLDS Mr. Reynolds has been President/CEO of Capitol Administrators since 1999. Formerly he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for United Healthcare’s Western Region and Vice President of Western Region Operations for Travelers Insurance Company. Mr. Reynolds is past President and current Board Member of the HealthCare Administrators Association, is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and serves on healthcare consultant panels for two national consulting firms. ABOUT BRIG. GEN. RICHARD L. URSONE (US ARMY RET.) BG (Ret) Richard L. Ursone currently works as a Director, Department of Defense Healthcare, Deloitte Consulting LLP. BG (Ret) Ursone devoted thirty years of service in the United States Army, culminating with his position as the Assistant Surgeon General, Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army and Chief, Medical Service Corps. BG (Ret) Ursone holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Trinity University in Texas and a Master’s in Strategic Resources Management from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF), National Defense University.
